The Núcleo de Informação Tecnológica em Mobiliário e Madeira – NIT/MM was settled in 1986, through the agreement made between SENAI-RS and the former Secretaria de Tecnologia Industrial do Ministério da Indústria e Comércio (presently it is coordinated by the Secretaria de Ciência e Tecnologia da Presidência da República and the Instituto Brasileiro de Informação em Ciência e Tecnologia - IBICT) having as its chief aim to offer services of technological information transference to the national furniture sector through the identification, collection, treatment and spread of the existent information both in the national and international literature, as well in the documents as machines/equipment catalogues, technical norms, video tapes, magazines, newspapers and the like.
Its function is to organize and spread technical/technological information from the furniture sector. It counts on a collection composed by books, newspapers and magazines, technical norms, industrial catalogues, video tapes and folders.

It provides the access to the issues and necessary information to keep the National Furniture Industry updated.
The NIT offers the following services: quarterly publication of the Informativo Mobiliário e Madeira containing information about raw material suppliers, technical norms acquisition, bibliography listing and technical publications from the same Center to be sold that are possible to be consulted on the on-line data base.
